Yesterday I posted my first bluebird house plans on the site with a 3D model and video. I wanted to make sure that the plans really worked so I went ahead and built the bluebird house. Being that it was my second birdhouse that I have ever built I feel like it was a success.
1. The first thing that I did was pull up the 3D bluebird house plans that I created. I just used my laptop instead of printing 2D versions out. I enjoyed this because I was able to watch the video and pause it where I needed the plans. It also saved paper.

2. Now I wish I had a word working shop but I do not currently have one. The plans are in process but my back patio will have to work for now. I gathered the tools needed for this project. As you can see I used a circular saw…(it would have turned out better with a table saw and chop saw).

3. I first cut my two side pieces. The drawing calls for angles to be cut on both sides of these pieces. I did my best with the limited ability that a circular saw has for cutting angles. Needless to saw the angles didn’t come out exactly right which cause a little cosmetic decline in the birdhouse later on.

4. After I had cut the top and the front I began to assemble the bird house. I first tried to nail the roof in together but soon realized that this was really hard with such thick wood and just a hammer and nails. So I nailed the front to the roof which was a lot easier.

5. After I attached the front of the bird house I cut the back and attached it.

6. After the sides came in I made a mistake. I didn’t have a 1 1/2″ bit so I got anxious to see the bird house with a hole in it and just drilled a 1/2 hole. Because I did this it was much harder to drill the 1 1/2″ bird house hole. Next time I will not do this again.

7.This is the finished product. Now I need to find a good tree to hang my bird house up in.

I hope you enjoyed my 2nd bird house project. I enjoyed putting it together and I learned from my mistakes. Below is a list of things that I learned from this bird house project.
What To Do:
Always have the plans near while building.
Gather all the tools needed before started the project.
Use exact measurements.
Show your project off when completed.
What Not To Do:
Don’t build a bird house out of such thick material.
Don’t use too thick of screws when trying to attach the wood.
Use the right drill bit when making the bird house hole.
Use a table saw to cut the angles on long pieces of wood or a chop saw.
Get soft clamps so that there are not marks left on the wood from the clamp.
